Butterfly!
I “caught” my first butterfly this weekend. It used to be a caterpillar and its wings were made of paper…at least that’s what I told dad.

Drew and I had a joint birthday party yesterday. It totally rocked! We had it at a bouncy house party place, and all of our friends came to celebrate with us. There were so many pictures from the party that dad made a quick video (he thinks he’s Martin Scorsese or something…) – it includes almost all the kids who came, but some managed to escape without getting photographed…like Alex. Thanks to all our friends who came. And thanks to my mom for planning it!!!
A lot of exciting things happened at school today…
First: it was the first day I wore underwear to school without my mom being there as a helper. I am now doing both deeds in the toilet and keeping my underwear clean ALL day long:>
Second: it was SNOW DAY today. A big truck came to school today and brought us a lot of snow for us to play in. We got to wear our snow boots and mittens. It was SO much fun (mom didn’t get a pic because this was during the school day and she had gym class with Paige:<).
Third: my teacher sent home a progress report on all the things I am learning and have mastered so far in school. I did GREAT!
Here are some of the things I have mastered:
Recognize ALL letter sounds
Knows names of ALL the letters in random order
Knows ALL colors
Knows all shapes
Recognizes patterns
Can count to 29
Knows spatial relationships (in/out, on/off, etc..)
Matches numerals to the correct number of objects, counts in 1 to 1 correspondence
Great social/emotional/listening and verbal skills
Things I need to continue to work on are:
Participating in group discussions (you know me..I watch first and then participate:>)
Handling my scissors better
Know where my heel and wrist are
Count up to 100
Other than that I am doing great!!! What a BIG day!
Last night we rang in the New Year with some of our good friends…yes, you’re thinking wow, your mom and dad let us stay up till midnight? No, you silly we celebrated European style:> We had a blast playing, dancing, eating and blowing horns! I even got to wear a silly hat.

To celebrate New Years Day we headed to our traditional Half Moon Bay for some beach walking and lunch. It actually was a nice sunny day there! In the spirit of the New Year mom and dad asked Paige and I what our New Year’s resolutions were…so here are mine… 1. To be a better cutter with my scissors 2. To count to 100 3. To no longer have a top on my cup (MOM!!!!-I think she needs to get over it…I am a big boy and can TOTALLY drink without a top:>) 4. Stay healthy and happy 5. To continue to love school 7. To continue to be a good friend and brother We hope you have a great New Year! We look forward to what ‘09 has in store for us…I will turn 4 and Paige will turn 2. We have many adventures ahead of us so stay tuned and we always love to hear from you!!!! |
Did I have fun at Grandma and Grandpas or what?! I had so much fun I cried in the car when we left because I didn’t want to leave. I enjoyed my time with my cousins. We played in the sprinklers and went to a local park. We met a cool man there playing the bongos and he let us join in. I also got to spend time with Aunt Colleen and Uncle Neil. Neil and I played some soccer…but my goal was getting the soccer ball into the mud puddle and laughing when my shoes and legs were covered with mud!
Grandma and I had a lot of fun doing sticker books and reading together. Thank you for having us over I can’t wait to come back!!!!
Hooray! Hooray! It’s time to pop open the cider and party! Aunt Colleen just got engaged to Neil! When mom told me that Aunt Colleen was going to get married to Neil and that I could now call him “Uncle Neil” I said “Who’s Uncle Neil?” I’m sure I’ll get used to it in no time! Congratulations – now let’s party!

Aunt Colleen and Neil had us over to their house for a BBQ today. We got to hang out with them, and Grandma & Grandpa, and Uncle Paul. We played lots of games, and even got some presents from Grandma and Grandpa, who just went to Europe! By the end of the day, I was tired and fell asleep in the middle of the party.

Aunt Colleen came over for a camp out in the backyard last night! It was awesome…we set up tents and slept outside in sleeping bags! We also had a fire for s’mores (see below). I’ve been looking forward to camping all week and I wasn’t disappointed. We had two tents and three people sleeping outside (mom and Page slept inside) – Aunt Colleen, dad and I slept outside. I was insistent that I get to sleep with Aunt Colleen – even when dad came in the tent to kiss me goodnight, I said “can you sleep in your tent, and Aunt Colleen will sleep in my tent?” I slept all the way through the night until the birds woke me up around 7:00 and we came inside to make pancakes.

We had a s’mores party last night in the backyard. It was sooooo much fun, and a lot of my friends from the neighborhood came to roast marshmallows in our backyard fireplace and play in the tents that we set up for my camp out (more on that later). We didn’t get pictures of everyone…too many marshmallows to eat, but it sure was fun.
